The holiday season is a magical time of year, but unfortunately, it can also be a difficult time for families who are struggling to make ends meet. That's why the Ooze Foundation is always so inspired to put on the best Oozemas holiday bash possible to help bring some holiday cheer to underprivileged kids in the Detroit community.
For the past two years, we have set Oozemas up as a drive-thru event, where we set up shop outside and hand out toys to kids in need. This year, since all pandemic restrictions have been fully lifted, we were able to host a real holiday party again! We are thrilled to have distributed 1,000 gifts to children ages 0-18 in our community, all thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners.
Our team of Ooze elves worked hard for weeks leading up to the event, wrapping all of the donated toys in our warehouse. We had a team of dozens working together, and it was heartwarming to see everyone come together to help make a difference in the lives of these children.
This year's event was held at the Heilman Community Center in Detroit, where we hosted a big party to celebrate the holiday season. In addition to handing out toys, we had a craft room where kids could make holiday decorations, and we even had a dance party!
One of the most exciting parts of the day was when Santa arrived with three adorable, fluffy alpacas for photos. We are especially thankful for L. George's Restaurant, who provided coney dogs for all the families, creating a festive atmosphere that was full of joy and laughter.
We were able to host our most magical event yet! We want to give a special shoutout to all of our volunteers and partners who helped make this event a success. Your time, effort, and generosity made a huge difference in the lives of these children.
