2021 Ooze Foundation Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Detroit Community

The Ooze Foundation's annual Thanksgiving food drive was a huge success and our biggest Oozegiving yet. On Tuesday, November 23rd, we were able to give out full turkey dinners to 300 families in the Detroit community which is 50 more than last year!

This year, the Ooze Foundation assembled meals for 300 Detroit families who wouldn't have been able to participate in the Thanksgiving festivities otherwise. Each family was given a Thanksgiving turkey, a reusable Ooze bag packed full of classic Thanksgiving sides like macaroni and cheese, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, and an apple pie dessert.

To keep everyone involved safe and COVID-free, Oozegiving has continued to be a drive-thru event. After such a successful event last year, we decided that continuing the drive-thru was a great way to make sure everyone felt comfortable attending.

Cars started arriving early this year and patiently waited in line to be checked in. After each car had their registration number checked, they would be given a turkey from the turkey station. Next, they would visit the canned goods station where they would receive an Ooze goodie bag full of non-perishables. Then, they would finish by stopping by the pie station and grabbing a delicious apple pie for dessert.

After experiencing such a hard couple of years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our team knows that people are struggling now more than ever, especially in Detroit. The Ooze Foundation is dedicated to helping alleviate holiday stress and lessen the burden of poverty that weighs so heavily on our community. By making sure that these 300 families can come together and enjoy an amazing Thanksgiving meal, we hope to help make their Thanksgiving day as special as possible.

The Ooze Foundation was "started about 2 years ago when we ran into some roadblocks while looking for charities to partner up within the local community," said Ooze Foundation Co-Founder George Sinishtaj. "Due to the space we’re in, a lot of charities denied our money. We still wanted to give back our community so we decided to start a foundation ourselves."
